For “Seduced at the Window Gallery” Hennig will perform live for the first time. The window will function as a (live) screen instead of a video monitor. Even though the window separates the performer from the viewer, the window allows a voyeuristic intimacy. It aims to open a new level of direct confrontation to the viewer including involuntary viewers. The window will be covered in chocolate, which will be licked off during the performance, stressing the limits of seduction and repulsion.

Lia Anna Hennig creates hilarious scenarios, at once humorous and obsessive, vile and intensely beautiful.

 

Hennig’s videos are mesmerizing and she often performs herself in these carefully crafted pieces of work, which are often process based and develop slowly, crossing the boundaries between the organic and the artificial.

 

Dealing with mystical internal and external – ‘before and after’ – fantasy worlds, which are made visible by the recurring theme of food and food consumption, they capture the viewer with their surreal decadence and hilarious sense of humor.
